Our eight-acre, Dobbs Ferry Campus, which overlooks the majestic Hudson River, was established in 1890 by our founder, pioneering child welfare advocate, Etta Angell Wheeler. It is our headquarters campus and the evolving hub of our therapeutic and healing arts program. Here, we’ll use movement and dance, writing, visual arts, drama, music, gardening and beyond to enhance the well-being of youth with special needs by helping them: lower anxiety and stress; deal with negative situations, disabilities and trauma; improve self-awareness and self-esteem; strengthen relationships; regulate behaviors; and advance social skills. These healing therapies help youth feel a sense of normalcy without judgment, while allowing them to express their individual personality and bring attention to their strengths.
